The sm House is a residential project located in Manhattan Beach, CA. A small existing single story house on the property was recycled into the new design. Keeping the original foundations (along with the old perimeter framing, a bedroom and bathroom) the new design maintains the compact footprint by going vertically to add size and volume. This gives way to a generous backyard where the family plays, entertains, and even raises chickens for fresh daily eggs. 100% recyclable corrugated aluminum paneling sheaths the main envelope. Smooth troweled white stucco forms extrude out from the corrugated box, connecting the interior to the outdoor areas. More photos to come…
